A six year old boy is dead after a bus crashed into home on Long Island.  The boy's older brother was also hurt.

It happened at Fulton Avenue and Nassau Place in the village of Hempstead at about 9:34 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Police said the Nassau Inter County Express bus swerved in effort to avoid a 35-year-old man crossing against the light and smashed into the home at 505 Fulton Ave.

6-year-old David Granados was hit by building debris.  His 7-year-old brother was also in the room and had minor injuries to his arms.

First responders rushed the children to local hospitals; one to Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola and the other to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.  It was too late for the younger boy.

The pedestrian who was hit by the bus was also hospitalized.  His condition was unknown.

11 people were on the bus.  Eight of them suffered non life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospitals.

The bus was not removed from the home until around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police said the 50-year-old bus driver was not facing charges but the bus was impounded for a safety check.
