DALLAS -

A jury has convicted a Dallas man for the death of his girlfriend's dog.

Alexander Matthew Good, 27, was found guilty of felony animal cruelty. It took jurors about three hours to come to their decision.

Dallas County prosecutors said in August 2011 Good intentionally kicked or hit Erica Craycraft's 5-year-old Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix named Jack.

According to an arrest warrant, Craycraft came home to find Good in her apartment with Jack whimpering under the bed. She took the dog to a vet's office, where he died of severe blunt trauma injuries including broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

Good will be sentenced by a judge sometime in January.

He faces up to two years in prison.
