A dangerous mix of rocks, mud, and concrete chunks caused a rollover accident and forced the shutdown of a major highway spur Thursday morning.
TxDOT crews are waiting for a sweeper truck to arrive from Navarro County to help clean up the northbound lanes of Spur 408, which remained closed at 6 a.m.
According to witnesses, shortly after 1 a.m. a pickup truck lost control in the chunky mess near Kiest Boulevard and rolled over into the grassy median.
Fortunately, the driver of that pickup was not seriously injured.
At least three other cars suffered significant damage in the debris field.
Hours later, the backup on northbound Spur 408 stretched back to I-20.
