DETROIT (WJBK) -- It's one of the most recognizable buildings on Belle Isle and the largest yacht club facility in the United States. Now, the Detroit Yacht Club clubhouse is in need of repairs.
The newly formed Detroit Yacht Club Foundation will host an inaugural gala, Restoring the Grandeur, at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in the 93,000-square-foot DYC clubhouse.
The event includes a strolling dinner with cash bar, music, dancing and historical displays. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by phone at 313-824-1200 or by logging on to www.dycfoundation.com.
The money raised will help both window and roof repairs needed in areas of the clubhouse that have suffered water damage since opening in August 1923.
