MESQUITE, Texas -
Hundreds turned out Friday morning to say goodbye to a veteran Dallas police officer who died over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Sr. Cpl. Recardo Trejo worked for the department for 36 years. On Nov. 24, he was killed in a car collision in Bexar County, near San Antonio. Trejo was off duty.
The department said Trejo was headed back to North Texas after spending the holiday with family.
Friday morning, mourners and fellow officers gathered at Diviner Mercy of the Lord Catholic Church in Mesquite. Dozens of motorcycle officers provided an escort from the church to the cemetery.
Trejo was 54 years old.
