GARLAND, Texas -
A Garland High School student is charged with bringing a gun to school on Wednesday.
According to Garland police representative Joe Harn, 17-year-old Carlos Eduardo Rodriguez was caught with the loaded firearm inside his backpack shortly after 9 a.m.
Harn said a school resource officer found the gun on Rodriguez while investigating reports that the teen had a weapon.
That officer took Rodriguez into custody without incident, Harn said.
Rodriguez is charged with having a prohibited weapon in a weapons-free zone, a second-degree felony.
He was being held at the Garland Detention Center on Thursday.
