Man tried to set fire to stolen bus

Posted: Updated:

A man allegedly tried to set himself and a stolen school bus on fire in Dallas Friday afternoon.

Police responded to calls around 3 p.m. about a suspicious man in the 700 block of West Jefferson Boulevard in the parking lot in front of Peter Piper Pizza.

Witnesses said he had driven a Jesuit Prep School bus into the parking lot, got out and was acting erratically. He took his shirt off and tried to light it on fire and then jumped back on the bus.

Officers found him in the driver's seat trying to set some papers in his lap on fire. They forced their way inside and took him into custody.

No students were on the bus at the time.

Officials from Jesuit Prep said the bus was stolen from their campus on Inwood Road overnight.
