A Dallas apartment building caught fire on one of the coldest nights of the year, destroying dozens of apartments before rekindling overnight.
The 4-alarm fire started at about 7 p.m. Monday at the Las Cascadas Apartments in the 9300 block of Skillman Avenue, in the northeast portion of the city.
At least 24 units were damaged or destroyed before firefighters snuffed out the flames.
However, the blaze rekindled at about 1 a.m., reaching 2-alarm status before it was again put out by about 6:30 a.m.
Everyone inside the building was able to escape and there were no reports of injuries.
About 15 families were left homeless.
The cause and cost of the blaze was not immediately known.
