A small, privately-owned military jet crashed and burst into flames on Thursday near the border of Ellis and Kaufman counties, killing two people on board.
The vintage aircraft, which according to the National Transportation Safety Board is an L-29, went down near the Trinity River, outside the town of Scurry.
Firefighters arrived at the crash scene at about 11:30 a.m. to find the mangled wreckage still burning.
The NTSB said both people in the jet died.
The Federal Aviation Administration had no reports of any missing planes, representative Lynn Lunsford said.
However, he said, the pilot of the craft might not have alerted officials about the flight.
It was not immediately clear what caused the jet to crash.
