In the wake of the mass shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, a health care professional says too many guns are not the issue, too little mental health care is. That's according to a report on FOX News.
Dr. Keith Ablow says focusing on gun control distracts public officials from the real work that must be done, repairing a shattered mental health care system.
He says a mentally ill person with a known "propensity for violence" is likely to receive just an hour of counseling in a week by a social worker.
He cites several issues, among them the dismantling of inpatient psychiatric hospitals and changes in health coverage by insurance companies.
