One of the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers being sued over a body cavity search along a North Texas highway has been suspended.
Two women claim they were pulled over in July for throwing a cigarette butt on the road.
They said the trooper who stopped them repeatedly asked them if they had marijuana and then called for a female trooper to search them.
No drugs were found on them or in their car.
DPS said Trooper Kelley Helleson, who conducted the search, has been suspended with pay while the investigation into the claims continues.
