If you have been near the U.S. Capitol or White House recently, you may have noticed all of the building taking place before the inauguration. Millions of public and private dollars are being spent to put on the second inauguration of President Barack Obama.
At the home of D.C.'s elected leaders, a large amount of federal money is being spent to build a viewing stand for the inaugural parade. D.C.'s Department of General Services told FOX 5 the total cost for the structure at the Wilson Building will be $342,000.
The District is also building the presidential viewing stand and a media stand near the White House. General Services says the total cost for the three projects comes in at $2.8 million. The District will be reimbursed by the federal government for the costs.
Mayor Vincent Gray and the D.C. Council will split the tickets for their guests to join them inside the heated viewing stand at the Wilson Building.
