A Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus driver has been arrested and charged with soliciting a minor for sex. The evidence against him is contained in a string of text messages, police said.
The 16-year-old victim said the driver approached him on the bus in the Highland Hills area of Oak Cliff.
"He was like, 'I got a job. You want to work?' I said, 'Yeah, I want to work. Been looking for a job that's a blessing, you know,'" the teen said.
So he said he gave the DART driver his number. Soon afterward text messages containing suggestive and lewd language starting coming.
"A picture of a $50 bill and said, 'I will keep money in your pocket any time I can **** **** **** and rub on your body,'" the teen said.
He showed the text to his mother who called DART police.
"I said, 'Hey I don't know what's going on but this particular bus driver is messaging with my 16-year-old,'" she said.
DART police began investigating and identified the driver as Terrence Anderson. He was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor.
He was also fired from his job.
"When I read the text messages, you know, I mean I had tears in my eyes because you sit here telling my son you want to do all these kinds of things to him and you on the down low. Nobody knows your business," the teen's mother said.
The 16-year-old said he did respond to the messages with one of his own.
"As young as I am, all I know you need is God," he said.
Anderson has since bonded out of jail.
DART police did trace the phone number the text messages originated from. The phone apparently belonged to a woman Anderson was in a relationship with.
