Dallas police break up large cock fighting operation

Dallas police broke up a large cock fighting operation early Sunday morning in southwest Dallas.

Police were called to the 2400 block of North Counts Blvd. and discovered a cock fight in progress. Police say at least 20 people ran into woods to escape police north of where the cock fight was happening. Police have been able to find a number of those people but are still searching the woods for additional fight spectators.

Police says there are at least 200 live birds at the scene. Dallas Animal Services is helping recover those birds. Police found an estimated 20 dead birds and two dead horses on the property where the fight was taking place.
