Thompson, Flores, and two friends had all been drinking and smoking marijuana in Flores' home when they got in one of the friends' car to drive to a store. In the 4100 block of Westmoreland Rd., the gun went off.
The police report says Thompson was "recklessly playing" with the 9mm chrome handgun while singing along to a popular song on the radio. Flores was rushed to St. Paul Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m.
Thompson is charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
