DALLAS -

A 22-year-old man is behind bars, charged with accidentally shooting his teenaged sister to death in a car Sunday night.

Henry Thomas Thompson told police he was extremely intoxicated when he was playing with the gun in the back seat. The weapon fired, shooting 18-year-old Karissa Flores in the back as she sat in the front passenger seat.

Thompson, Flores, and two friends had all been drinking and smoking marijuana in Flores' home when they got in one of the friends' car to drive to a store. In the 4100 block of Westmoreland Rd., the gun went off.

The police report says Thompson was "recklessly playing" with the 9mm chrome handgun while singing along to a popular song on the radio. Flores was rushed to St. Paul Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m.

Thompson is charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
