Historic Brooklyn church holds services despite fire damage

MYFOXNY.COM -

The historic church in Brooklyn that was badly damaged by a fire a few days ago held Christmas Day services despite the incident.

The Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew suffered physical damage but it didn't stop worshippers from attending Christmas Day services on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.

Services were held after the church in Clinton Hill was deemed safe to allow parishioners back in.

The fire broke out early Sunday morning and police believe the fire was the work of an arsonist. The 19th century church also played an important role in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
