GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) - A winter weather warning for DFW International Airport is expiring at mid-morning but at least 40 departing flights already have been cancelled.
Airport officials say at least 1,000 passengers woke up Wednesday morning after spending the night inside airport terminals. They were given cots, blankets and toiletry kits.
Roads around and into the airport and reported clear although some icy patches were possible.
Up to five inches of snow fell Christmas Day, with the highest snowfall recorded north, east and west of Dallas and Fort Worth.
DFW Airport is the world's eighth-busiest based on passenger traffic.
