For some, the day after Christmas means one thing: scooping up the bargains at the mall.
FOX 4 found some eager shoppers outside a Kohl's store in northeast Dallas that opened at 5 a.m.
Candy Lockhardt was visiting her daughters from California, but says this is one of her favorite parts of the trip.
"This is their Christmas present from me," she said of the trip to the stores. "It's the family tradition."
Every year Candy and her daughters hit the post-holiday sales. That's good news for retailers, who had a disappointing run up to Christmas day.
One report says retail sales across the country rose only 0.7 percent. Analysts had expected growth of 3 to 4 percent.
All of this means deep discounts at malls and stores through the end of the year, as stores try to move their inventory.
