NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The American Museum of Natural History celebrated its 34th annual Kwanzaa celebration with Kwanzaa 2012 Saturday afternoon.

The event celebrated the traditions of Kwanzaa and honored the holiday's seven guiding principles. Saturday's festival included a interview about Karamu (African Feast) with restaurateur B. Smith, family-friendly hands-on activities, and an international marketplace.

A screening of The Black Candle, narrated by poet Maya Angelou was shown. The film is documentary that uses Kwanzaa as a vehicle to explore and celebrate the African-American experience.
