Can you really cure a hangover?

Posted: Updated:

We're looking at some of the methods for restoring yourself back to being sober after a New Year's party.

Everyone has a way to fix a hangover -- take Advil, drink a lot of water, eat greasy food or just plain sleep it off.  But what if you can't sleep it off?  Maybe you need to get up the next day after your big New Year's party and be somewhere.  How do you get moving?  Does anything help with a hangover?

Here are a few we found on Gizmodo.com:

  1. Puerto Ricans believe rubbing a lemon or lime under your armpit (your drinking armpit) prevents dehydration
  2. In Germany, they prefer raw, pickled herring wrapped in onion
  3. In Ireland, the best way to fix a hangover is to bury yourself in wet river sand, which is rather cold
  4. In the U.S.A., remedies such as eggs benedict seem to be a crowd pleaser.
