One man is dead and a second is in jail following a bizarre robbery attempt at an east Dallas motel.
According to police, 21-year-old Demarcio Looney and a second man, who has not yet been identified, conspired to rob a victim at the Lamplighter Motel at 9033 East R. L. Thornton Freeway.
The victim, who says he was lured to the motel room by Looney, was forced at knifepoint to strip. When he told the suspects he had cash in his car, the thieves opened the door and the robbery victim ran naked into the parking lot.
Detectives say as he was trying to escape, one of the suspects cut the victim in the back of the head and neck. The victim wrestled the knife away from his attacker and fatally stabbed him in the parking lot.
Officers arrived about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to find the naked victim and the dead man in the parking lot.
The Dallas County medical examiner hasn't been able to reach the dead man's family, so his name has not yet been released.
The second suspect, Looney, is behind bars on an aggravated robbery charge in lieu of $50,000 bail.
