A Fulton County homeowner is shaken and grateful to be alive after suspects fired shots at him during an attempted burglary early Thursday morning. It happened at a home on Stillrock Drive.
The homeowner, who does not want to be identified, spoke with FOX 5's Portia Bruner on Thursday. He says around 2 a.m., he heard several knocks at his front door, followed by someone ringing his doorbell several times. By the time he got there, he found no one on the other side of the door.
That's when he says he realized two men had scaled his six-foot fence to try and break into his home. He says they fired one shot that hit his back door, and a second that came through the screen and grazed his torso. He was not seriously hurt, and is doing fine.
The homeowner tells FOX 5 it's very frustrating that someone would attack him in his own home, but he'll do what's necessary to protect himself and his property. He's warning his neighbors to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity around them.
Police are still searching for the shooter. The homeowner says he didn't get a good look at either of the suspects, and could only tell police that both men were about 6 feet tall and were dressed in dark clothes with hooded sweatshirts.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Fulton County Police Department.
