A Cobb County murder victim is remembered by family and friends as "super mom" to her teenage sons.
Sheriff's investigators say Donna Nations Kristofak was stabbed to death by her ex-husband, John, the weekend before Christmas.
Dozens of people filed into Johnson Ferry Baptist Church to remember Donna Kristofak on Monday.
"She is, as I said in there, she represents all that's good about people and all that's great about this community," said family friend Alswinn Kieboom.
Kieboom has known the Kristofaks for six years. His family cared for Donna's teenage sons while Cobb County sheriff's deputies searched for their father, John, after their mother's murder at their family home in Marietta.
"It was a very difficult time. And frankly I'd prefer not to really go back to that time. It was, as you can imagine, very challenging on everybody," said Kieboom.
Kieboom says the boys exhibited strength beyond their years during the difficult period and says the community has rallied around to support them.
"Donna would be so proud of these guys. We got to be with them 24/7. We always knew their personalities, but it's different when they're with you all the time," said Kieboom.
Photos of Donna lining a table in the church fellowship hall depicted a happier time with friends and loved ones. A sign asked mourners to write notes about Donna to her sons. A scholarship fund was set up to help pay for their college education.
"But most importantly is make sure that these guys know that they don't have to worry about whether they can go to college or not. It's really about where do they want to go to college," said Kieboom.
The Kristofak boys will be cared for by their grandmother, who is moving to Cobb County from Alabama.
You can contribute to the Harrison and Zac Kristofak Scholarship Fund at any area Regions Bank.
