Dallas narcotics officer shot

Posted: Updated:

A Dallas narcotics officer was reportedly shot in east Oak Cliff Monday night.

Police sources told FOX 4 the undercover officer was trying to execute a search warrant at a home in the 4300 block of Fernwood Avenue around 8 p.m. when he was shot through a door or window.

The officer was taken to Parkland hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was shot in the rear, the sources said.

Because he is an undercover officer, police likely won't identify him. Source said he is a veteran officer, but is fairly new to the narcotics division.

Several additional tactical units were called to the scene after the shooting because the suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside the home.

As of 9 p.m. officers surrounding the house still had not made contact with him or gained entry into the home.

Neighbors were asked to stay indoors.
