Jerry Jones promised change and this is a big one. The Dallas Cowboys may soon be looking for a new defensive coordinator.
According to FOXSports.com, Rob Ryan has been telling friends in the league that he was fired.
Ryan's defense this season suffered through injuries to half a dozen key players including Sean Lee and Bruce Carter.
He's been with the team since 2011. During both seasons the Cowboys were ranked 19th overall in defense and missed the playoffs.
Jones' decision was likely a matter of performance, injuries or not.
Ryan told reporters on Tuesday he has no sour grapes. He's confident he'll find another spot.
He previously worked as a defensive coordinator in Cleveland and Oakland and coached linebackers in New England.
