SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- We saw a steady stream of people coming to the Oakland County Health Divisions's clinics in Southfield and Pontiac on Friday to roll up their sleeves for flu shots.

Miki Clemons of West Bloomfield marched in with her two boys ages three and four.

"There is a lot of talk out there about how bad the flu is getting, and I've read a lot of things of Facebook about kids dying," she said.  "I just wanted to make sure that they were as covered as I could make them."

The health department says clinics have been packed.

"And we expect to continue that.  We are having a number of people that are pre-registering online," said Oakland County Health Officer Kathy Forzley.

As we've been reporting, it's been a rough flu season here and across the country.  The latest count now shows 338 confirmed flu cases in Michigan.  Four children have died.

According to state health officials, there is no shortage of the flu vaccine, but supplies may be running low at many pharmacies like Walgreens.  The chain is reportedly expecting new shipments on Monday and has a waiting list for customers.

Health officials recommend people looking for the vaccine call ahead before they visit clinics to make sure the shot is in stock.

You can get a flu shot from the Oakland County Health Division for $16.  For people that can't afford that, they offered a reduced fee based on income.  Children 18 and under who don't have insurance can get flu shots for free.  You can find clinic addresses and hours of operations at www.oakgov.com/health/Pages/initiatives/flu_main.aspx.
