A spokesman for former president George H. W. Bush says he's hopeful Mr. Bush will be released from the hospital this week.
Doctors are still trying to decide whether to release the country's oldest living former president.
He was admitted into a Houston hospital just after Thanksgiving for bronchitis and later moved into intensive care for a fever.
Bush's son, Jeb, told an audience at a speech that doctors might send the 88 year old home on Monday.
