NYC swears in 318 probationary firefighters

NEW YORK (AP) - New York City has sworn in its first class of probationary firefighters since 2008.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano swore in the 318 "probies" at a ceremony on Tuesday.

They'll be tested and trained at the Fire Academy over the next 18 weeks.
