Former TCU and NFL star LaDainian Tomlinson is tackling hunger with students at Tanglewood Elementary in Fort Worth. He helped kick off the North Texas area Souper Bowl of Caring campaign.
In the weeks leading up to Super Bowl Sunday, Tanglewood students collect money and cans of food for people in need, then donate them to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
The North Texas Souper Bowl of Caring community goal is $1.3 million in cash and food.
Pre-packaged bags of food are available for purchase at Tom Thumb, Kroger or Albertsons.
Tomlinson has close ties to North Texas from his time playing for TCU. He says he's already been recognized for his talents on the football field. He now wants to leave a lasting legacy by inspiring his youngest fans to do great things for the community.
