SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

West Grange Pharmacy and Trenton Police Chief join Kam to talk about yellow jugs and old drugs.

A solution now exists for those looking to dispose of old medications. Traced elements of compounds from old pharmaceuticals have been found in water due to people flushing old medications down the toilet. Any type of old medications or drugs, like antibiotics, tranquilizers, or pain medications should be disposed of properly.

Until now there was no safe way to get rid of old medications. West Grange Pharmacy will be hosting a drop off event in which they take your old drugs and place them in a yellow jug designated for disposing of medications.

"Often times drug use starts at a young age and we don't want to expose our children to these drugs," said James Nardone, Trenton Police Chief. "Keep an eye on the medicine cabinet, that's our first advice"

On Saturday Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., any type of drugs can be dropped off at West Grange Pharmacy.
West Grand Pharmacy is located at 3390 West Rd. in Trenton.
