CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about trusting star athletes. Everyone is talking about Lance Armstrong bearing his soul to Oprah, or at least bearing enough of it to try and save his backside. I won't be watching. I've had enough of him.
Now comes word that the sad story of the dead girlfriend of Notre Dame's Manti Te'o was a hoax.
We don't know all the details yet, but we will soon--which is why Te'o and Notre Dame are smart to come clean right away. It's shocking that public figures can fool us, but life affirming that in the end the truth always comes out.
There's an old saying that after falsehood flies, truth comes limping after, so when men come to be undeceived it's too late, the tale has had its effect.
Which is why I don't really care about Lance Armstrong's televised, backpedaling, pseudo-confession. Are we supposed to feel sorry for him because he wants to compete again?
Boo hoo. He should have thought of that during his decade of lying.
What is it with these athletes? Is it because they're coddled from an early age that they think they can get away with anything? Tiger Woods, Armstrong, and now questions about Manti Te'o. Was he really just an innocent victim of a hoax? We may have to wait for his interview with Oprah to find out.
