CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
It was a heated night on "American Idol" as the judges squabbled and contestants auditioned -- hoping for that all important golden ticket to Hollywood.
Entertainment Reporter Bill Zwecker spoke with two of the 47 people who auditioned in Chicago and are going to Hollywood.
That includes the androgynous Josh Davila who lives near Midway Airport. He's convinced that his unique style impressed the judges.
"For the past year, I've been working on this image, working on trying to do something I was blessed with, which is singing and performing and once again, being different," Davila says.
Another lucky golden ticket winner was Chicagoan Devin Velez who briefly thought he wouldn't make it through the Chicago auditions.
"I started to sing. I sang two songs that I planned and then Mariah Carey put a stop in the middle of my second song and I'm like 'Oh God, that's a no' and she's like 'can you sing something in Spanish?' and I said 'well, sure' because I'm Hispanic and so I started singing something in Spanish," Velez explains. "And I ended up getting four yeses and I'm going to Hollywood!"
Of course, the well-known bickering between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj really ratcheted up during the Chicago auditions at Adler Planetarium.
