Christie, FEMA announce $1.5M Lavallette project

Posted: Updated:

Gov. Chris Christie has announced a $1.5 million public assistance project to reimburse the town of Lavallette for emergency measures necessitated by Hurricane Sandy.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide $1.1 million toward the project.

The money will cover emergency costs to police, public works employees and electrical contractors to protect and evacuate residents.

Those costs stemmed from building and manning barricades, clearing downed power lines, removing debris and repairing water, sewer and electrical lines.
