Members of Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas woke up early to hit the road before sunrise.
Those heading to Washington D.C. say they are excited to see Monday's swearing in ceremony in-person.
"I couldn't be happier to be going on this trip. It is my birthday present and Christmas present all rolled up into one," said Susie Hess.
Neither President George H. W. Bush nor President George W. Bush will attend Monday's inaugural ceremonies.
The elder Bush won't make the trip because he is recovering from several illnesses.
