Texans heading to DC for inauguration, Bushes not going

Posted: Updated:

5 buses, full of Texans, started their journey from North Texas to the nation's capitol, for the president's inauguration, early Saturday morning

Members of Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas woke up early to hit the road before sunrise.

Those heading to Washington D.C. say they are excited to see Monday's swearing in ceremony in-person.

"I couldn't be happier to be going on this trip. It is my birthday present and Christmas present all rolled up into one," said Susie Hess.

Neither President George H. W. Bush nor President George W. Bush will attend Monday's inaugural ceremonies.

The elder Bush won't make the trip because he is recovering from several illnesses.

Doctors released the nation's oldest living president from a Houston hospital Monday after a nearly two month stay for bronchitis and a fever.

Former president George W. Bush says he will not attend because of his father's recent health issues.

Former democratic presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton will attend.

Fox 4 will have complete coverage of the President Obama's inauguration, including when he takes the oath of office which is scheduled at 10:30AM Monday.
