The woman who is accused of shoving a man to his death on a Queens subway station says he tried to fight back.
According to the New York Post, accused subway shover Erika Menendez says Sunando Sen tried to shake her off before he fell onto the tracks in front of the No. 7 train.
Menendez told the Post, "My mind was just racing that day. I was mad. I was just angry," said the 31-year-old Menendez from Rikers Island.
"I was homeless. I was hungry. I was fighting with my boyfriend. He came running up the stairs, and I just got up and pushed him."
The 46-year-old Sen didn't have time to react and was killed by the oncoming train.
Menendez told police she hated Muslims and Hindus and said the murder was revenge for September 11th.
"I'm not mad about the people. I'm mad because I liked the buildings," Menendez said. I just wanted to hurt Muslims and Hindus ever since [9/11]."
The interview was the first by Menendez since being arrested and she told the Post that Sen had stood out from the other riders because of his religion.
