Cab driver killed when SUV crashes into car

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police say a cab driver who was standing in front of his car, was killed when an SUV smashed into him early Sunday morning.

35-year-old Mir Hoosain of Elmhurst, Queens, was standing in front of his taxi around 2:00 a.m. when a Nissan Pathfinder heading eastbound on East 26th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues slammed into his yellow Crown Victoria.

The force of the crash sent the cab careening into three parked cars.

Authorities say Hoosain was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 43-year-old driver who was inside one of those cars was injured and was taken to Cornell Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The 42-year-old driver of the SUV was not injured and remained at the scene, according to police.

No arrests have been made and authorities said that alcohol was not a factor but they're trying to determine if the man driving the Pathfinder was speeding.
