Search finds Conn. child, babysitter at pool party

Posted: Updated:

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A babysitter accused of taking a 2-year-old girl to a late-night pool party and setting off a statewide Silver Alert in Connecticut has been arrested on a child-endangerment charge.

Police say the child was returned unharmed to her mother after 20-year-old Samya Quinones, also known as Samya Johnson, drove the girl to a Stratford hotel without the mother's permission. She was arrested Sunday and held on $20,000 bond.

The unidentified mother, who dropped the baby off on Saturday, called police early Sunday after she went to the babysitter's home following work, but Quinones did not answer her phone.

After an hours-long search and the statewide alert, police learned that Quinones had taken the girl to the pool party.

It was not known Monday if Quinones is represented by a lawyer.
