DALLAS -

Dallas police are trying to find an off-duty officer's police-issued rifle that was stolen from the officer's car.

The fully-loaded Rock River AR-15 was in a soft case and equipped with a SureFire light system.  The officer's duty ammunition, a total of 100 bullets, is also missing.

The officer left the gun and ammo in his car at an apartment parking garage in the 1700 block of N. Hall Street Monday afternoon.

According to the police report, he parked in space number 166 at about 5 p.m.  A thief smashed the window of the car and took the gun.

No arrests have been made.
