Two men are safe after their 18-wheeler truck cab caught fire as they were in it Thursday morning.
Shortly after midnight, the truck that was hauling Little Debbie snacks developed a problem. The driver pulled over on the southbound Stemmons Freeway near Hiline Drive when his "check engine" light came on.
As he began to check the rig, he realized the engine was on fire. He quickly woke the other man, who was in the sleeper compartment of the truck. Together they managed to unhitch the trailer and move the cab further up the road.
The men called 911 and tried to put out the flames themselves with fire extinguishers, but it took Dallas firefighters to quench the flames with water hoses.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
