Author of 'The Heavy' describes outrage that lead to book

Author and mother Dara Lynn-Weiss was dubbed 'the worst mother ever' by readers of Vogue magazine after an article she wrote two years ago about putting her 7-year-old daughter on a diet drew outrage.

Lynn-Weiss' daughter was 4'4" tall and 93 lbs.  Her doctor said she was "obese."

"What I found interesting is that of all the talk about childhood obesity, the truth I encountered was that I was harshly judged by putting my child on a diet," said Lynn-Weiss.

The author turned the saga that eventually died down into the new book, The Heavy.

"There was this idea that I wanted my daughter in the pages of Vogue and that this was my motivation, the goal was always for her to be happy," said Lynn-Weiss.
