Dallas police investigate bar beating death

Dallas police homicide detectives are investigating the beating death of a man inside an east Dallas bar early Saturday morning.

Police spokesman Sgt Warren Mitchell says police answered a disturbance call inside a bar in the 5400 block of East Grand Avenue and found a man unconscious. Witnesses told police the man was attacked by several people who hit him with a chair, pool cue and kicked and stomped his head. The victim was taken to Baylor hospital where he died according to Mitchell. The police spokesman says a second person was also assaulted in the incident but his injuries were not as severe.

The name of the dead man has not yet been released.
