At least two people have died after a crash along Loop 202 and we're told at least three children were inside the vehicle at the time.
This happened Sunday night around 8:30 p.m. on westbound Loop 202 near the 44th Street exit when a woman pulled over to check a blown out tire.
When a pickup truck driver didn't see the vehicle, it hit it at full speed, causing the truck to flip over.
Department of Public Safety officials say a woman was in the front seat of the broken down car holding a 6-year-old child in her lap. In the backseat, there were two other children, ages 4 and 14.
We're told the two women died at the scene. And to make matters worse, the driver of the vehicle was two months pregnant.
Two of the passengers were taken to Maricopa Medical Center and two others were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
The freeway was closed for nearly five hours while DPS investigated.
DPS officers say accidents like this one can be avoided.
"The key thing to remember if your vehicle is mobile and you can move off the roadway ..move off the roadway..a blown tire is not something to block the roadway.. move off.. it may sound bad, it may even damage your rim, but it's a lot better than ending up what happened here where people lost their lives," said Sgt. Damon Cecil.
The conditions of the four passengers is not known at this time, but we're told the driver of the pickup truck was also hurt.
No names have been released in this case.
