Charges dropped against 1 in Texas campus shooting

HOUSTON (AP) - Prosecutors have dropped assault charges against a man who was among three people wounded in a shooting at a Houston-area college.

Carlton Berry was arrested soon after the Jan. 22 shootings at Lone Star College and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Berry was shot in the leg.

Sara Kinney, a spokeswoman for the Harris County district attorney's office, said Monday that Berry was clearly a victim.

Another man wounded in the incident told investigators that he bumped into Trey Foster on campus, sparking an argument that escalated into gunfire. A maintenance man was caught in crossfire.

Foster was arrested Friday 250 miles away in Plano. The 22-year-old is charged with resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
