New Scottsdale airline creates affordable VIP flying experience

Posted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

A brand new airline based in Scottsdale is getting ready to take off. It's middle ground between flying a commercial airline and flying in a private jet.

If you've always wanted to fly on private jet, but couldn't afford one, a new Scottsdale-based airline says they've got exactly what you're looking for.

Set Jet says it offers the VIP experience at a more affordable price tag.

"We're anticipating the first flight will be mid-February to early March," says Set Jet co-founder Tommy Constantine.

The plane you'll be on -- a CRJ 200 -- a regional aircraft. It got a $5.5 million makeover. The company converted the 55 seats down to just 15.

"It's a very VIP experience, you're not sitting next to anyone unless you want to be."

There are leather chairs and flat screen monitors.

If you're looking to fly to one of four destinations -- San Diego, Vegas, LA, or Orange County, you can fly via Set Jet for $300 to $350 one way.

"The security is very different, all of our members are prescreened, there will be less of a hassle of getting on one of these airplanes and getting to your final destination."

There is a membership fee that starts out at $50 a month.
