SWAT standoff ends after suspect hides in IHOP ceiling

Posted: Updated:

A standoff with Lewisville Police has ended after a man hid in an IHOP ceiling Tuesday morning.

David Lee Horton and two women were at the restaurant on Stemmons Drive around 1:00 a.m.when people heard them talking about stealing a car.  Witnesses called police who arrived a short time later.

When officers walked into the restaurant they say Horton darted and locked himself in the bathroom. According to police, the 33-year-old told them he had a gun and was not afraid to shoot them.

While the restaurant was being evacuated a stolen car was found in the parking lot.

A robot used by the Lewisville SWAT team discovered Horton had punched a hole in the ceiling and was hiding in a crawl space.

Horton gave himself up shortly after 5a.m. He was arrested on two warrants for aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping out of Plano. Horton is also wanted in Dallas County for the alleged theft of a vehicle.

Trophy club police believe he took part in the robbery of a 7-Eleven Monday night.
