The former Highland Park High School baseball player who was accused of sexually assaulting an underage classmate will not go to trial.
A Dallas County grand jury no billed 19-year-old Ryan Romo on Monday. They decided there was not enough evidence of the crime to indict him.
Romo was arrested in October after a 16-year-old girl told police he raped her. She said they left a concert together and made out in his SUV. Then he forced her to have sex with him despite her protests, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
While sexual assault tests performed on the girl confirmed signs of vaginal trauma, the grand jury also considered evidence from a polygraph test during which Romo said the sex was consensual.
The Dallas County District Attorney's Office said the case will not move forward unless the victim brings forth additional evidence.
