A 3-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night after being hit by his family's car in their driveway.
According to the Coppell Police Department, the accident happened at about 8 p.m. in the 200 block of Lodge Road, a residential neighborhood near the Sam Rayburn Tollway.
The boy's mother said he was helping her to unload groceries from the trunk after they returned home from shopping. She thought she put the vehicle in park, but for some reason it started rolling backward out of the driveway and into the alley.
The car hit the 3-year-old and pinned him beneath the undercarriage.
First responders said he was breathing, conscious and talking when they arrived.
He was taken by CareFlite to Cook Children's Hospital in Dallas.
Police said they do not expect to file any charges against the boy's mother.
