Duncanville police arrested a former NFL and local high school football star after a convenience store robbery, and investigators believe he may be tied to similar crimes in other cities.
Darren "Tank" Lewis attended Dallas' Carter High School and Texas A&M University as a football powerhouse. He played for the Chicago Bears from 1991 to 1993.
Police say on Tuesday morning just before 2 a.m., someone robbed a 7-Eleven on U.S. 67 at Cockrell Hill Road.
When the suspect demanded money and the clerk refused, the suspect shot the clerk in the thigh.
Officers investigating tips from other cities ended up arresting 44-year-old Lewis on charges of enhanced theft, evading arrest, and an aggravated robbery charge out of Cedar Hill.
Detectives are checking to see if he could face other similar charges in other metroplex area cities.
