A TV news reporter from a well-known North Texas family was hit by a car while covering a story in North Carolina.
Caroline Vandergriff was reporting on storm-related power outages in Charlotte Wednesday night when two cars collided. One of them careened out of control and hit her while she was standing on the corner of an intersection.
She was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
An assistant news director for Time Warner Cable's News 14 said on Thursday morning she was awake, alert and upbeat.
Vandergriff was a FOX 4 intern while in college.
She is the granddaughter of the late Tom Vandergriff, the longtime Arlington mayor and Tarrant County judge.
