Dallas homicide detectives are following up on leads following the death of a 72-year-old woman who friends and family members said made a strong impression on everyone she met.
Mouda Erskine was found dead from blunt force trauma to the head early Friday morning in her home in the 3900 block of Latimer Street in south Dallas.
"Thinking about someone hurting her… it's devastating to me," said Marva Miles, her older sister. "I feel angry. I feel sad."
Miles said her sister was small in stature, but had an oversized personality.
"Everyone who knew her knew she was a loving person. And, she would help anybody," she said.
Neighbors said she'd often sit on her front porch and keep watch.
"She was a friend. But more than a friend, she was a family member," said Dorothy Jackson. "It's a loss to our neighborhood. We gotta put a stop to this some sorta way."
Police said Erskine's vehicle and some of her belongings are still missing.
They do have a person of interest in the case, but have not yet made any arrests.
